New Cross Fire Memorial Service

The New Cross Fire Memorial

Today we hosted the New Cross Fire Memorial Service. It is 43 years to the day since the fire and each year we gather (usually at Lewisham Council’s Civic Suite in Catford) to remember those who lost their lives, their families and friends and those who’s lives were forever changed by the events of that night.

The live stream of the service is available to view on our YouTube channel

St. Andrew's Community Nursery celebrates forty years

This year, the St. Andrew’s Community Nursery is celebrating forty years of offering Nursery provision in Brockley.

Established as part of the wider vision of our former Minister, Rev. Barry Carter MBE, for serving Brockley, and firmly connected to the outreach of St. Andrew’s Church, the Nursery was originally staffed by Church Members and remains a very positive service to the community.

Some of the staff team have worked at the Nursery for many years, and the parents of several of the current and recent children themselves attended the Nursery in their youth.

St. Andrew’s Church offers many congratulations to the St. Andrew’s Community Nursery on this special anniversary.

If you’d like more information about the Nursery please look at the website: Nursery

New Vicar for the Parish of St. Michael's and St. James'

Announcement for St James and St Michael, Hatcham: Sunday 24 July 2022

The Bishop of Southwark and CPAS are pleased to announce the appointment of The Reverend Kingsley Yeboah as Vicar of the Parish of St James & St Michael, Hatcham in the Diocese of Southwark.

Kingsley has previously been serving as Priest in Charge of St Laurence’s, Eastwood, in Chelmsford Diocese.

There has been a long vacancy searching for the right way forward for the Parish and Kingsley is well equipped to lead in mission and pastoral care of the whole community of faith in Christ centred and outward focused ways.

It is anticipated that Kingsley will be Instituted and Inducted as incumbent in September, subject to the satisfactory completion of the preliminary procedures. We commend Kingsley and his family, and the church community and parish of St James’ and St Michael’s to your prayers at the start of this important new phase of mission and ministry.

On behalf of the patron, the Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS), and The Bishop of Southwark,

Welcome to Simon - our new Community Minister

St. Andrew’s and St. Michael’s are delighted to welcome our new Community Minster (Church Related Community Worker) to Minister with us in the Brockley and New Cross (BaNC) Church in Community Project.

Simon has served as a CRCW for many years in other parts of the UK and comes to South-East London bringing a wealth of experience of Community ministry and wider United Reformed Church understanding.

We are excited to see where this Ministry will lead us all.

Removal of Covid restrictions

The Government has now removed all Covid restrictions in England.

Some people are not yet ready for this so we ask that we continue to offer one another space if preferred and honour others continuing to wear a mask if that makes them feel secure and comfortable.

As always, if you are showing any symptoms or sickness, please don’t come to church but keep safe and well at home. If you need medical advice, please seek it fro NHS 111.

Thank you
