The Church at the heart of the
Milton Court Community
St. Michael’s Church and Community Centre began this part of its life in 1971. As this part of New Cross was redeveloped from the war-scarred Victorian terraced streets into a modern high density 1970s estate, two local churches of the area (Ludwick Road (New Cross) Congregational Church and St. Michael’s Parish Church) took the decision to come together to serve this fast changing community as one church family. Following the union of the Congregational Union in England and Wales and the Presbyterian Church of England in 1972, we have combined our United Reformed and Anglican traditions and have served the Milton Court, and New Cross, community from its centre.
As a United Church, St. Michael’s is in a Pastorate with St. Andrew’s Brockley and also forms part of the Anglican Parish of St. James’ and St. Michael’s Hatcham.
The Ministry of St. Michael’s is shared between the clergy of St. Andrew’s and St. James’.
